Dear Timekeepers & Payroll Managers,

We are pleased to announce the UCSB Timekeeping Refresh Project, which aims to transform the way we manage time and attendance on our campus. Our current electronic timekeeping system, UKG Workforce Central (aka Kronos), has served us well for years. However, UKG has announced that this software will reach end-of-life and will no longer be supported after December 2025. Taking advantage of this opportunity to evolve our technology, we are introducing a new electronic timekeeping solution, UKG Pro Workforce Management (UKG Pro WFM), the more robust and feature-rich replacement for Workforce Central. This change will strengthen our levels of efficiency, accuracy, and convenience in how we record and manage time.

Why Pro Workforce Management?   

We selected UKG Pro WFM because its core functionality aligns seamlessly with our current timekeeping system. This ensures a smooth transition for our staff and minimal disruption to daily operations. Moreover, we can deploy UKG Pro WFM well before UKG Workforce Central reaches end-of-life. This proactive approach allows us to adapt gracefully to change and minimizes potential challenges.

What is the timeline?

The Timekeeping Refresh Project consists of three key phases:

  1. Discovery: We are currently in the discovery phase, where we assess our organization's unique requirements and tailor UKG Pro WFM to meet UCSB’s needs.
  2. Build: The build phase will follow shortly, where we will configure and customize UKG Pro WFM to integrate with our operations.
  3. Deployment: We expect to launch the new system by June 2025, ensuring that UKG Pro WFM is fully operational and ready to enhance our timekeeping processes.
